In the first view here we see recently overhauled 35028 Clan Line heading through Fleet on this VSOE circular tour from London Victoria via Andover, Southampton and Winchester.
In the next two views we catch up with 35028 during a water stop at Winchfield.

04 April 2007
This sequence shows 35028 Clan Line during a water stop at Theale.  35028 was returning to London Victoria following a VSOE trip to Bristol, although 35028 had only run as far as Westbury.

First we see a close up of Clan Line heading through Theale Station on the goods line.  Moments later we see the loco heading away towards the location of the tender truck.

The third view sees the the support crew at work on 35028.  The loco is well beyond Theale Station in the goods loop.  35028 is taking water from the hydrant and tender truck close to our position down on the adjacent road.

The final two views show Clan Line getting away from its stop heading past the business park, catching some evening sun.

21 April 2007
This sequence shows 35028 Clan Line during a VSOE tour from London Victoria to Oxford and return.

First view is from the return trip out on the Great Western main line near Basildon. 35028 is in fine form as it catches the evening sunlight.  Next, earlier in the day we see the crew of 35028 taking a break as the loco is serviced at Ascot on the outward leg.  Finally, 35028 makes a spectacular departure as it gets underway from Ascot following the stop.

12 May 2007
Two views of 35028 Clan Line heading a VSOE circular tour from London Victoria via Andover, Southampton and Winchester.
Firstly, we see 35028 on the outward leg trip approaching Fleet and passing close to the long disused Bramshot Halt just before the Pond.  Second, 35028 motors up the grade at Micheldever on the return leg.

09 June 2007
35028 Clan Line heads this VSOE tour towards Egham on a dull and humid evening in rural Surrey.  35028 was returning to London Victoria following a trip to Oxford.

08 July 2007
Two views here of 35028 Clan Line heading 'The Waterloo Sunset'.  One of a series of tours run to commemorate the final steam hauled passenger service on the old Southern region on 09 July 1967.

The first is a classic view from Farnborough on the outward leg of trip run non-stop from London Waterloo to Salisbury.  A rare trip on 'down fast' means we see the loco quite well.

From Salisbury the tour continued to Poole via Eastleigh before returning to Waterloo.  We catch the return in the late evening at Winchfield.  35028 howls through the station, whistle screaming on the 'fast' line again.  The whistle blows my microphone away, so no sound from this trip I'm afraid.

14 September 2007
35028 Clan Line picks its way through engineering works at Worting Junction near Basingstoke with this private charter.  The headboard shows 'Bournemouth Belle' although 35028 is on the Salisbury Line.  At Salisbury the train would continue diesel hauled (D1015) whilst 35028 returned to Stewarts Lane depot.

29 September 2007
Two views of 35028 Clan Line heading a VSOE circular tour from London Victoria via Andover, Southampton and Winchester.  This is the same route as that on 12 May although this tour was originally destined for Whitstable.  This time we catch 35028 on the outward leg at Hook in the first view.  Second, as on 12 May we see 35028 working the climb at Micheldever and passing the fine station building.

Much less extraneous noise than 12 May though as Clan Line heads through Micheldever, listen on the Sound 2007 page here.

20 October 2007
On a perfect autumn day 35028 Clan Line hauled this VSOE trip from London Victoria to Southampton E Docks and return.  All these images are taken at Brookwood, Surrey and 35028 was on time at this point on both legs of the tour.

First, we see 35028 approaching Brookwood.  Moments later the loco heads through the station.

The third image, from the return leg, show the support crew setting to work on what was originally planned as a water stop but no tender was present.  Apparently still plenty of water on board according to a report.  Through the station lights the bright star Capella blazes in the northern sky.

The final two views see first Clan Line make a stunning image as with safety valves blowing the loco gets ready to depart.  Finally, as the loco gets underway it is lost in a fog of steam with cylinder cocks blasting.

35028 Albury 11 December 2007

11 December 2007
35028 Clan Line makes a fine sight as it climbs through the Surrey Hills with this VSOE circular tour from London Victoria.  The class 67 on the rear of the train seemed to be pushing though and I didn't hear 35028 until the last minute so no sound from this trip worth including really.  In the background, high on the North Downs, is St Martha's Church.
