LMS Princess Coronation Class 4-6-2 no 6233 Duchess of Sutherland

On 28th April 2007 PMR Tours ran a 'Cuneo Centennial' tour from London Waterloo to Yeovil Junction and return. The train was run in conjunction with The Cuneo Society to commemorate one hundred years since the birth of renowned railway artist Terence Cuneo (1907 - 1996). The tour was hauled LMS Princess Coronation Class no 6233 Duchess of Sutherland. Due to last minute gauging issues 6233 would run as far as Salisbury before Class 57 diesel no 57601 hauled the tour to Yeovil Junction and back to Salisbury. In these first two views we see 6233 Duchess of Sutherland passing Fleet on the outward leg of thr tour.

6233 stopped for water at Winchfield on the outward leg.

On the return leg we catch up with 6233 attacking the climb towards Overton at Whitchurch in fine style. Note the Salisbury bound Class 170 'Turbostar', having arrived seconds before 6233 passes.

Finally, 6233 heads back through Fleet following a water stop at Basingstoke. The impressive profile of the loco juts into the evening sky as it speeds through the station.

Next, almost as proof of the event, the nameplate stands out on the 'Duchess' as it flashes past on the way back to Woking and London Waterloo.
