01 June 2009  A trip along the famous Ffestiniog Railway

The first train of the day on the famous Ffestiniog Railway sees 'Double Fairlie' David Lloyd George climbing towards Tan y Bwlch.

The terminus of the Ffestiniog Railway at the atmospheric Blaenau Ffestiniog.  The station provides a link with main line to Llandudno Junction and we see Arriva Trains Wales Class 150 no 150237 awaiting its next duty.

03 June 2009  Beyer-Garratt NG/G16 no143 takes the first train of the day from Caernarfon to Hafod y Llyn on the Welsh Highland Railway in this short selection.

The first train of the day on a recently rebuilt part of the Welsh Highland Railway.  Here we see former South African Beyer-Garratt NGG16 no143 near the site of Nantmor Halt.  143 has just departed the temporary terminus at Hafod y Llyn and is heading for the Aberglaslyn Pass before continuing to Caernarfon.

On the return leg the rear profile of no143 stands against a backdrop of Snowdon at the dramatically scenic Rhyd Ddu Station.
