34067 Tangmere gets underway from Winchfield following a water stop. Tangmere
was heading a VSOE tour from London Victoria to Southampton E Docks.

A welcome return for Tangmere seen here passing through the Surrey countryside on the 1/100
climb from Shalford towards Chilworth and running about 30 minutes late at this point. 34067 was running the regular
VSOE Victoria-Guildford-Victoria route, but for Hertfordshire Rail Tours.
Note the loco 'blowing off' on the climb. You can hear this clearly if you listen to the clip

Tangmere heads away from Worting Junction towards Basingstoke and London Victoria with 'The
Royal Wessex'. This Kingfisher tour was the first steam hauled train to originate from Weymouth to London and
return since 1967.
On the same day Tangmere coasts into Winchfield on the return leg of this tour.

Tangmere rattles through Fleet Station in front of some keen onlookers as it heads for Southampton
and Eastleigh on a circular route from London Victoria.
On the same day Tangmere glides through a virtually deserted Winchfield, bar a handful
of enthusiasts, on the return leg of this Kingfisher tour.

34067 heads North close to the River Thames just outside Goring on its way to Oxford. This
slightly delayed VSOE tour originated at London Waterloo. Shortly afterwards Castle Class 5029 Nunney Castle passed
along the same route and you can find a photograph on this page.

Tangmere crosses Fleet Pond on the return leg of this Kingfisher Railtour from
Derby to Salisbury. 34067 covered the steam leg of the tour from London, Kensington via Salisbury and Southampton.

towards Goring on this VSOE tour from Victoria, London to Oxford.

On a fine but cool evening at Winchfield the support crews set to work on 34027 Taw Valley running
under its normal alias of 34045 Ottery St Mary. 34027 was making a water stop (two fire tenders were present)
following a Steam Dreams to Littlehampton and Portsmouth Harbour.

GWR Castle Class 5051 Earl Bathhurst steams past near Theale with an ECS (Empty Carriage Stock) working
to Newbury. From Newbury, 5051 was due to take a private charter tour to Bristol and return. This is a monochrome
study but it was a dark and damp morning in Berkshire and this shot sums up the weather well.
5051 was making some noise though and you can listen to the soundtrack on Sound 2005 here.

BR Standard Class 8P no 71000 Duke of Gloucester arrives at Aldershot with a Cathedrals
Express tour to Stratford. DoG had only arrived at the Mid Hants Railway, where this tour started, the
previous day, following an unscheduled overnight stop at Tylesley en route from Bury to Alton. The tour itself was then
diverted via Oxford due to the collapse of a temporary tunnel at Gerrards Cross.
71000 has the road and awaits the 'right away' at Aldershot on this tour to Stratford. Listen

with this Cathedrals Express tour. Running some 35 minutes late, 5029 followed 34067 Tangmere that
had passed along the same route just a few minutes beforehand with a VSOE tour to Oxford.

Theale Station. 5029 had stopped for water at Theale and was heading for Reading and London Victoria after a Cathedrals
Express tour to Bristol.

First time on Fleet Steam for 45231 'Black 5' The Sherwood
Forester. A short break in the weather on an otherwise very wet day in Surrey sees 45231 at Brookwood Station during
a water stop. The 'Black 5' was returning to London Victoria with a Cathedrals Express tour to Bath and Bristol.
On a still night with a break in the rain 45231 made some good noise as it left Brookwood and you
can listen as the train gets underway on Sound 2005 here.

Heading a Cathedrals Express tour, 'The MGB Venturer', 45231 The Sherwood Forester
thunders through Hook on a bright, late autumn morning. The tour was heading from Victoria to Bristol and return.
The loco, showing lovely clean exhaust here, had just stopped for water at Winchfield, some two miles to the east.

Running some 25 minutes late at this point, 45231 The Sherwood Forester catches the
first rays of sunlight as it heads west through the rural outskirts of Egham, Surrey. The Sherwood Forester had
been delayed near Aldershot on this Cathedrals Express tour from Alton to Stratford.

A bright December day sees 45231 The Sherwood Forester in fine form as it heads for
Salisbury at Potbridge, just after a water stop at Winchfield. 45231 was heading a Cathedrals Express tour
from London Waterloo
Looking a little like these views were seperated by some 40 years, but infact seconds after
the first view we see the 'Black 5' heading away in the direction of Hook and Basingstoke.

A fleeting glimpse of the smooth lines of A4 'Pacific' Union of South Africa as it waits
in pouring rain at Winchfield Station during a water stop. The A4 was on a Cathedrals Express tour from Clapham
Junction to Exeter.
